Research Club
Tuesday May 6th 2025Research is a systematic investigation into a subject to discover new facts or information, or to create new knowledge. By doing research, students get some individual and team benefits as a whole by fostering deeper understanding, improving decision-making, driving innovation, and addressing societal challenges.
Al Azhar 55 Islamic Primary School has a Mini Research Club (KIR/Kelompok Ilmiah Remaja) as one of the extracurricular activities. In the academic year 2024-2025, 12 students of grades 4 and 5 joined the club. This activity began with an introduction to simple experiments and then continued with more specialised and advanced group research. The club had come up with some products, e.g aromatic body lotion, healthy soap, slime, toothpaste and lip scrub.
Aside from doing the experiments, they also conducted their own research to solve the problems around them. The research began with investigating the problems that have emerged. Then, a literature study and problem solving were carried out. In the problem solving, each group proposed the creation of a product or tool. This activity hones their creativity, collaboration, and analytical and critical thinking skills.
One of the groups, consisting of Katiya Shae Minna, Nebia Rizhani, Deogratias, Asshafa Salsabila Shaheen and Alluna Pradia Humaira was selected to participate in the I2ASPO (Indonesia International Applied Science Project Olympiad competition) for Functional Food category. Their idea was to solve the problems of people around them who have kidney cancer. Their research was Renoprotec
