RESEARCH CLUB TO SHARPEN SENSITIVITY TO PROBLEMS
Thursday October 10th 2024Research is creative and systematic work to increase the stock of knowledge. It involves the observation, collection, organization, and analysis of evidence to increase understanding of a topic, characterized by a particular attentiveness to controlling sources of problem and error.
Al Azhar 55 has a mini research club. This club accommodates students who love to do science experiments and research. Only students of grades 3-5 can join the club. This year, there are 19 students joining the club.
Research sharpens someone’s sensitivity to the environment. To learn to address environmental issues, students learn step by step by conducting mini research in groups under the guidance and supervision of the teachers. They start from observation to creating the product.
The club has come with some products, e.g. aromatherapy candles, LGS scrub, healthy soap, safe lip balm for kids, and plastic biodegradation. They needed around 1 month to finish the projects. After that, they presented and evaluated their projects. They also modified their projects based on the evaluation. Evaluation is not the last step of research. Students had to make a journal/report of their projects. The products were then exhibited at ISTEAM Expo.
