WHY AL AZHAR 55
Thursday January 28th 2021Why Al Azhar 55 Primary School Yogyakarta?
Al Azhar 55 is the first international Islamic primary school in Yogyakarta. As an international school, English is our main language of instruction. By using the language, we train our students to be active English speakers. By then, we hope that they will be ready to be part of the global community who highly uphold Islamic values. In addition to that, nationalism is another attitude whose values we incorporate into their profile so as to make them know who they are and how to actively participate in the global movements.
All members of Al Azhar 55 Primary School have agreed to make our institution a growth-mindset school. We are proud to say that our learning methods, strategies and activities have incorporated this quality into our life. By then, not only to be global-minded, we shape our students to be growth-minded. In other words, students are trained to reach their utmost potentials no matter how many challenges they need to address or gaps they need to fill in. To support this, we have our powerful words “You can if you think you can”.
The growth-mindset principle is incorporated into the following activities:
– Hands-on Learning
– Student-led Conference (SLC)
– Reading Log
– Global Perspectives (a Subject for students to learn and get world-wide insights)
Al Azhar 55 Yogyakarta is an authorised Cambridge Exam Centre in Yogyakarta. It means that the School is licensed to administer an international exam of Cambridge. As it is a Primary, it is eligible to carry out Primary and Lower Secondary CheckPoint Tests.
Historically, Al Azhar 55 Yogyakarta was established by Yayasan Asram Yogyakarta collaborating with Yayasan Pesantren Islam (YPI) Al Azhar Jakarta in November 2016. After years of service, the School keeps delivering learning concepts through hands-on activities. It aims to get students to understand deeply what they learn.
As the world keeps moving forward, Al Azhar 55 Yogyakarta is committed to preparing the students to take part in the dynamic. Therefore, instilling 21st century skills is indispensable. It is not only about technology or global citizenship. It is more about creativity, problem solving, local, cultural and global awareness, communication, productivity, collaboration, accountability, exploration, innovation, civic engagement, leadership and many more. By using the right approach, we change bored, lonely, angry, afraid, stress and tired (BLAST) into behave, emphatic, smart and tough (BEST).
