Mawlid Fest 2020 in Al Azhar 55 Yogyakarta
Monday February 1st 202125 Stories of Prophet Enlivened
Al Azhar 55 Yogyakarta organised Mawlid Fest dedicated to commemorating the glory of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. It is always exciting that all school members wait year by year. It was organised in one day at school. There was a storytelling competition where each student got an opportunity to retell a story about a prophet that they picked randomly.
Ms. Iyut Ayudya said that not only it was able to improve students’ confidence and creativity in retelling the story, but also to love the Prophet Muhammad more profoundly and to learning more deeply about his teachings and struggles in spreading Islam. This event was to commemorate the Prophet’s Birthday, which is done annually by Muslims. According to her, today’s generation has rarely read or listened to stories of 25 prophets who were easily found decades ago.
Before the event was closed, there was an awarding ceremony for all the winners of storytelling competition in all grades. They were Aulia Zhafirah (grade 4), Khinaya Neisha Davina (Grade 3), Naila Assyifa Fajar (grade 2), and Athaya Aditya Wastu (Grade 1). Before the ceremony, students listened to the story of Prophet Muhammad SAW, which was performed by a storyteller from Ahmad Dahlan University.
